Calling all parents of multiples in Merseyside!

Home-Start Liverpool is looking to attract more families with twins and multiples to its weekly Multiple Birth Group.

The weekly sessions are for little ones aged from birth up to pre-school age. They are held every Wednesday during term time, from 12.30-2.30pm, at John Archer Hall (next door to Windsor Primary School), Upper Hill Street, L8 1YR.

There is plenty on offer for both children and their parents, including craft activities – such as making posters and models, story and song time, free snacks for parents and children, tea and coffee – and a huge room full of toys that will keep the children entertained for hours! Families are welcome to bring siblings along too.

The sessions are a great opportunity for mums and dads to meet other parents of multiples to share their experiences and make new friendships. Home-Start also offers support to families with children over two through its School Readiness programme. This includes friendly advice and support, such as help with making routines, potty training and early learning through play. The group is affiliated by TAMBA, the Twins and Multiple Birth Association.

Other weekly playgroups

Home-Start Liverpool runs two other playgroups, which families with multiples are very welcome to join. The groups are open to anyone with pre-school child/ren from Liverpool.

Monday, 10.00am-12.00pm, Stay and Play (term time only)
Wednesday, 10am-12.00pm, Stay and Play (term time only)

Whilst groups are held during term time only, Home-Start also arranges meet-up sessions during the holidays at venues such as Central Library, William Brown Street.

Volunteer scheme

Home-Start runs a volunteer scheme to assist families needing support. Parents of multiples living in Liverpool can apply to Home-Start to request help. If you are successfully matched, your volunteer will visit you in your home and assist you using their own individual skills and experience.

Home-Start volunteers are parents themselves and are friendly and understanding people. Each volunteer attends a 10 week course of preparation and undertakes an enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau.

If you are interested in requesting support through Home-Start’s volunteer scheme or you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, call 0151 707 0916 to request more details. Further information is also available on the Home-Start website.
