We have pulled together a list of free or low priced activities to entertain the kids in Merseyside this half term. The last winter break will run from Monday 16th-20th February. So whether it’s rain or shine, there’s plenty here to keep the little ones knee deep in fun!
Chinese New Year
You can celebrate Chinese New Year for free on 19th February, which will be the year of the Goat/Sheep. Activities such as Chinese dragon crafts and lantern-making will be taking place at a number of venues, including the Lady Lever Art Gallery and Museum of Liverpool.
Chinese Martial Arts & lantern crafts
The Merseyside Maritime Museum will be holding free demonstrations of Chinese Martial Arts on 19th February along with a Dragons and Jazzy Junk activity, where you can create your own dancing dragon or jazzy junk to take home.
World Museum will be hosting free Chinese lantern crafts on 14th and 15th February, and don’t forget to catch the free Sssnakes Alive! exhibition at the same time as they’ll have live snakes visiting the same weekend. The exhibition closes on 22nd February, so this is your last chance to see the slithering snakes, dress up in camouflage and play a game of giant snakes and ladders.
Shiver Me Timbers
A free performance of Shiver Me Timbers will take place at the Merseyside Maritime Museum on 16th February at 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Drop in and hear about a pirate’s swashbuckling life at sea.
Hatters Tea Party
Young visitors won’t want to be late for a very important date as the Walker Art Gallery throws a Hatters Tea Party on 16th,17th and 18th February. It’s completely free to join the fun.
The Princess and the Frog
The International Slavery Museum is putting on a free showing of the Disney film The Princess and the Frog, followed by an afternoon full of crafts and a face painter on their Disney Day on 19th February.

Knowsley Safari Park
Grab half price tickets to Knowsley Safari Park from 14th-22nd February. That means you’ll get in for just £8.25 for adults and £6.25 for children. Go to the Knowsley Safari Park website to get your voucher.
Abakhan will host free crafting sessions for children aged four upwards on Tuesday 17th, Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th, 2pm to 3pm and 3pm to 4pm. Call 0151 207 4029 to book a place.
A live performance of Channel 5 Children’s show Milkshake will be held at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park on 20th February – at 1.30pm and 4pm. Novotel Superheroes Day
Novotel is hosting a free family fun day on Saturday 21st. There will be fun and educational activities for children aged 5 to 11 years. Go to the Novotel website to book a place.
